5 Fall Trends I'm Buying From the Sale Sections of Aritzia, Mango, and J.Crew
Not to generalize, but some retail experiences make most fashion people giddy. Finding the best sale items? We live for it. Searching the runway for the next big trend? It's our favorite hobby. Sure, we might not lead the same lives, but if you're reading this story, chances are you're about that life. (Hello, fellow fashion lover.) Therefore, I don't have to attest to how riveting fall fashion can be because, well, you already know. I will say, though, that people often assume that you have to pick between keeping up with trends or staying on budget, but that's far from the truth.
Some of the best fall items can be found in the sale section; you just have to be willing to search for them. Of course, even the most interested parties don't always have enough time to search for the season's biggest trends on sale. Luckily, I've got you covered. After countless hours scrolling through the fall/winter 2024 runway collections, I've identified five fall trends that can be found with a discount at Aritzia, Mango, J.Crew, Madewell, Nordstrom, and other beloved brands. Fair warning: These 25 affordable fall finds may cause excessive glee, so proceed cautiously.
After scanning the fall/winter 2024 runways, it's safe to say that the days of oversize suiting are over for now. Whether at Toteme or Bally, designers across the board seemingly took a field trip to the tailor's shop, resulting in sharp silhouettes. From sharp coats to thin cigarette trousers to blazers with nipped-in waists to column pencil skirts, no separate was left untailored.
I'm not a psychic, but this blazer is sure to become the backbone of your wardrobe.
The snatched waistline on this blazer will ensure you stand out at work.
Not a pant person? Pencil skirts are the perfect way to embrace this trend on your terms.
Like clockwork, there are always a few fall color trends that cause a commotion with the fashion crowd. Burgundy? We've been about it. Gray? I've personally given ample airtime to talk about it. But there's been one shade that's quietly taken over the runways and sale section: dirty martini green (aka the vibrant yet dark green shade of an olive). Whether you're looking at the F/W 24 collections of Gucci or Ferragamo or scouring the sale section at Aritzia and Gap, darker shades of green can be spotted everywhere, and that's likely not going to change anytime soon.
You can dress these trousers up or down depending on your mood.
Not every trend can hold onto our attention over time, but then again, they don't have the lasting appeal of '90s-inspired handbags. From Miu Miu's and N°21's fall collections to the sale section at Shopbop and H&M, we've seen '90s handbags continue to have a grip on the fashion crowd. Whether you adopt this trend in the form of a baguette, bowler, or barrel shape, there are so many ways to wear it that it only makes sense it's something you'd want to keep for the fall (or forever).
No matter how much you spend, patent-leather bags will always look cool.
With fall collections, there are always a few textiles that always bubble back up, like denim, cashmere, and leather. Now, with the latter, we saw designers take this "typical" textile and transform it through their F/W 24 collections. Moving away from the more rigid leather separates that dominated previous seasons, collections featured softer silhouettes that gave off the appearance that the leather was rolling down the body like liquid (see Bottega Veneta and Tod's fall shows). Embracing this trend is all about picking leather pieces that feel a bit more relaxed, such as baggy trousers, oversize jackets, draped dresses, and wrap skirts.
Although fall is often associated with boots, there are plenty of other noteworthy footwear trends you can find on sale right now. Case in point? Mod mules. Spotted in the fall collections of Blumarine and Ferragamo, this trend was all about giving this classic shoe style a contemporary twist. Many styles were made from supple satin, featured sharply angled toe beds, or came in trendy colors. It's the best way to step into the new season without spending a ton.
Everything about these mules feels the '90s coded—from the contrasting white stitching to the buckle hardware to the pointed toes.
